RIVIERA BEACH — A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a juvenile last week at a Wawa convenience store in Riviera Beach, police said Sunday.

The 17-year-old was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, and being a delinquent in possession of a firearm. He is being held in the Juvenile Assessment Center.

At about 10 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the Wawa, 7289 Garden Road, for reports of a shooting. Officers found a juvenile male deceased of gunshot wounds and another person critically injured.

Riviera Beach Police did not release the name of the slain boy, but WPEC-Channel 12 has identified him as 15-year-old Anthony Thurston Jr. of Palm Beach Gardens. Police spokeswoman Serena Spates said she did not know the gender of the wounded person, but said that person was still in critical condition Sunday.

Spates did not disclose any other information about the shooting, including the shooter's hometown or the motive for the incident, but said the investigation is ongoing.
