A teenage girl was found dead in Clear Lake after jumping from a boat into the water and vanishing, Washington sheriff’s officials reported.

Deputies responded to a report of the incident just before 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The girl jumped off a boat with a friend but never resurfaced, deputies said.

Patrol boats and divers assisted with the search, the sheriff’s office said.
