Temperatures remain high in NYC with thunderstorms expected this week

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Hot temperatures remained Sunday as New York City saw over 90-degree heat.

After a scorcher Saturday, temperatures soared to a high of 93 degrees in the city, and temperatures remained in the high 80s along the shores.

New York City forecast and PIX11’s Weather Center

Rain and thunderstorms could rock the city by Tuesday, remaining through at least Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The city opened its cooling centers over the weekend and pools will remain open until 8 p.m. to provide reprieve.

New York City’s air quality improved to a “moderate” level Sunday.
