Thunderstorms to clear out leaving cloudy and humid conditions

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Hot and muggy weather is expected Saturday as a Flood Watch and a Heat Advisory were issued for the tri-state area.

Saturday morning’s rainfall will clear out by 11 a.m., leaving behind cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-80s, according to the National Weather Service. However, Saturday’s heavy downpours may lead to excessive flooding.

A Flood Watch has been issued in portions of New York and New Jersey until the afternoon. An additional half to nearly two inches of rainfall is anticipated, according to NWS.

Saturday night, temperatures are expected to dip to the mid-70s with muggy, humid conditions. Dewpoints won’t be as high compared to the last few nights, according to NWS.

Expect scorching heat to return on Sunday and persist into mid-next week. On Sunday temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s. A heat advisory is in effect for most of the New York City area from Saturday until 8 p.m. on Sunday, according to the NWS.

A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to feel like it is over 100 degrees.
