Tiki Barber, ex-wife reach agreement on divorce settlement

One of the more contentious and headline-grabbing divorces that the sports world has seen in a long time is finally over.

Former New York Giants running back and TV/radio football analyst Tiki Barber has reached agreement with ex-wife Ginny on a settlement to divide the couple's assets, thus paving the way for Barber to finally marry his former mistress, former NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson.

According to the New York Post, the former Mr. and Mrs. Barber have 60 days to return the settlement to Manhattan Supreme Court, it was disclosed Wednesday. Once that occurs, Barber will be free to marry Johnson, the Post reported.

The settlement ends what had been nearly a two-year battle between the former spouses, which began in 2010 after Barber was seen at various spots around the Big Apple with the then-23-year-old Johnson -- while Ginny Barber was hospitalized for a week at the same time, pregnant with the couple's twin daughters, who eventually joined the couple's two other children, both sons, conceived in what likelier were happier times.

Shortly after news of Tiki Barber's affair broke, Ginny Barber filed for divorce. Tiki Barber had been working as a correspondent for NBC's Today show at the time, a role he no longer has.

Barber proposed to Johnson last year and the couple had planned to marry this spring -- but the wedding was postponed as the battle over division of Tiki and Ginny Barber's assets flared anew. Tiki Barber said he could not afford Ginny's alimony demands at the time.

The Post on Wednesday quoted Ginny Barber's attorney, Nancy Chemtob, on resolution of the settlement -- but there were no financial or child custody revelations given.

"The entire matter is settled," Chemtob said. "Everything is resolved."
