Joe Biden is scheduled to hold a press conference Thursday at 6:30 p.m. ET as part of this year's NATO Summit as the political world continues to examine whether he is fit for office since his botched debate performance against Donald Trump.

Since his dismal debate appearance two weeks ago, some Democrats have openly questioned whether he should still represent the party with others directly urging him to drop out of the race altogether.

Sen. Michael Bennett, D-Colo., gave a blistering assessment of Biden's reelection bid in a Tuesday night CNN interview, warning that Trump could defeat the incumbent Democrat "by a landslide and take with it the Senate and the House." And by Wednesday morning, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., seemed to question whether Biden should remain the Democratic nominee during an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

The shift comes after most Democrats in Congress, which reconvened this week, have so far held off on publicly calling for Biden to withdraw following his disastrous debate performance last month − even as many express grave concerns about the odds of Biden beating Trump.

All eyes have locked onto Biden at the Washington summit marking the 75th anniversary of the NATO alliance as he reaffirms the U.S. commitment to the intergovernmental group. Biden's responses to reporter questions as well how he delivers the answers serves as an important test at this stage of the election cycle.
