Timothy Haslett enters not guilty plea in Jaynie Crosdale’s murder

LIBERTY, Mo. — An Excelsior Springs man, already suspected in one woman’s kidnapping, appeared in a Clay County courtroom Friday to face charges in another woman’s murder.

Timothy Haslett, 41, entered a not guilty plea in 36-year-old Jaynie Crosdale’s murder.

Haslett faces nine other charges related to accusations that he kidnapped another woman and held her captive for weeks.

According to charging documents, Haslett told that woman he killed two people.

Kayakers found Crosdale’s body in a barrel on the Missouri River last summer in Saline County.

Law enforcemetn spent months trying to find her, calling her a possible witness.

Haslett was first arrested in the kidnapping and rape case in October of 2022 after a woman escaped from an Excelsior Springs home. Haslett was charged with counts related to rape, kidnapping, sodomy and assault.

The case against Haslett remains an open investigation. He’s now being held on a $5 million bond.
