Toddler dies after ‘accidental shooting’ in East Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A toddler has died after he was seriously wounded during an “accidental shooting” in East Nashville Wednesday night.
Officers were called to the 2000 block of Oakwood Avenue just before 9 p.m.

Metro police reported three-year-old Aydeen Pruitt suffered a gunshot wound to his head and was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Aydeen’s mother told detectives she was in the kitchen when she heard a loud pop come from the bedroom, according to a press release. Aydeen’s father, Dandre Pruitt, then ran out of the room and fled the apartment complex with the gun in a white Kia Soul.
Detectives are searching for Dandre Pruitt, 23, for questioning to help police understand the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.
In June 2023, Pruitt was driving in East Nashville when his four-year-old daughter was shot and killed in a targeted shooting as more than 20 rounds were fired into their car. Taliyah Frazier suffered a gunshot wound to her head and died from her injuries. Pruitt had a gunshot wound to his arm and one of two twin boys in the backseat suffered a non-critical graze wound to his head.

During a court hearing, Pruitt said he had bought pills shortly before dozens of shots were fired at the car he was driving. Investigators later testified the defendants misidentified the intended target.
