Tractor-trailer carrying water bottles overturns on Central Pennsylvania highway

(WHTM) – A tractor-trailer accident has closed a highway ramp on Wednesday morning.

According to PennDOT, at 7:30 a.m. a tractor-trailer carrying water bottles overturned on the ramp from I-81 south to I-83 south. The crash caused the water bottles to scatter across the roadway and it’s not known when the road will fully reopen.

PennDOT says another truck will be needed to haul the remaining bottles and a heavy tow is required to bring the trailer upright.

The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Photos from Colonial Park Fire Co. #1 showed water bottles and pallets had fallen onto the highway below from the overpass ramp. Other photos also showed the trailer’s roof sheered away.

The Dauphin County Hazardous Materials Response Team is also among the first responders at the scene.
