Truck crashes into 2 planes at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport

DENVER (KDVR) — Deputies in Jefferson County are investigating a crash after a car drove through a fence at the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tweeted about the incident at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

According to deputies, a pickup truck drove through the fence at the airport and hit two unoccupied planes. The driver was subsequently taken to a local hospital, but the status of their injuries is unknown.

Deputies said no one else was injured.

“There is no reason to believe there is a threat to the public or anyone at the airport at this time,” said the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing. Deputies have not said what factors may have led to the crash.

The Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport is located in Broomfield at 11755 Airport Way and was the third busiest airport in Colorado in 2022 in terms of takeoffs and landings.
