Former President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Harrisburg next week, his first appearance in Pennsylvania since he was injured in a July 13 assassination attempt in Butler.

The GOP candidate for president will appear Wednesday at the New Holland Arena, part of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center, the campaign said in a news release. This will be Trump’s first visit to Pennsylvania as the official GOP nominee, and the first since President Joe Biden bowed out of his bid for reelection. Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who has since won pledges from enough Democratic delegates to gain the Democratic nomination.

“The people of Pennsylvania are paying the price for the Democrats’ disastrous policies,” the Trump campaign said in the release announcing the rally. “Kamala Harris and the Democrats’ pro-criminal and open border polices are wreaking havoc in Pennsylvania,” the release states.

Trump last visited Harrisburg in February, when he spoke at the National Rifle Association presidential forum, also held at the Farm Show complex.

During the rally in Butler, a gunman shot at Trump and killed rallygoer Corey Comperatore. Two other spectators were injured in the incident, and Congress has held several hearings to try to determine how the gunman was able to get within such close range of the former president. U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on Tuesday, following widespread outrage that her agency failed to prevent the assassination attempt.

The Harris campaign did not immediately reply to a request for comment Thursday.
