Trump shooter Thomas Crooks was from Pittsburgh area; where is Bethel Park Pa
At a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania Saturday, a Pennsylvania man opened fire, using an AR-15 rifle, striking former President Donald Trump, who sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his right ear.
Another person attending the rally was stuck and killed and two others were hit by gunfire.
The shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by law enforcement almost immediately after the shooting started.
It is believed Crooks, a 20-year-old from nearby Bethel Park, Pennsylvania was perched on a rooftop about 200 yards away.
It’s not yet clear why Crooks allegedly shot Trump or how he got a rifle near the rally site.
Where is Bethel Park?
Bethel Park, is about 7 miles southwest of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County.
With roughly 35,000 residents, Bethel Park is largely a middle-class, working town. Election data shows the town tends to lean toward Republicans.
The borough has numerous parks and recreational facilities, including South Park, with hiking trails, picnic areas, and sports fields. Notable residents have included NFL player Mike Ditka and actress Shirley Jones, adding to the borough’s unique charm and character.

Bethel Park is a short drive from Butler, Pa and the Butler Farm Show Grounds.
The two towns are roughly 30 miles apart and are quickly connected via Interstate 79.
