BOLIVAR − Library activities and games including book stacking, bean bag toss, ring toss and marshmallow stacking will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, at Bolivar Branch of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System. To register, call 330-874-2720.

Open mic night

DEERSVILLE − The Deersville Community Theater will host an open mic night at 7 p.m. July 28. Entertainers are welcome to showcase their craft on stage, including standup comedians, singers, instrumental music, poetry, the spoken word, ventriloquist, and a variety of acts. DJ Jeremy Thompson will provide entertainment between acts. Each act can register beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Learn about images on traffic light boxes

DOVER − Dover Fire Chief and local historian Russ Volkert will present a Dover Scenes Through the Years at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at Dover Public Library.

Volkert will talk about the images on many of the traffic light control boxes around the city of Dover. The project's objective was to make history visible and accessible to the public in a low-impact way and to tone down the utilitarian appearance of the large metal enclosures.

Roast beef dinner July 28

SCIO − The Scio Volunteer Fire Department will hold an all-you-can-eat roast beef dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 28. Cost is $15 for adults, $8 for children younger than 10. Eat in or carry out.

Scouthouse dedication ceremony Saturday

STRASBURG − A dedication ceremony for the Carl W. "Bub" Dreher Scouthouse will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Strasburg-Franklin Park Pavilion 1.

Church hosts baseball games for special needs athletes

SUGARCREEK − Barrs Mill Church of God will host Dream League games from July 31 through Aug. 14, with 6:30 p.m. start times. Dream League is open to all special needs athletes, giving kids and adults the opportunity to get out onto a real baseball field, hitting, catching, throwing and circling the bases. During the game, each player will be assigned a buddy to help.The field is behind Barrs Mill Church of God, three miles north of Sugarcreek, and is handicap accessible. The baseball facility has a pavilion with a snack stand, handicap accessible restrooms, hitching rail and playground.

Zoar Antiques Show next weekend

ZOAR − The 50th annual Zoar Antiques Show and Artisan Tent will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Historic Zoar Village. More than 60 dealers of antiques from across the U.S. will be present offering historic decor and artifacts dating from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. A contingent of dealers specializing in Mid Century Modern antiques will return to this year’s show. Merchandise includes furniture, textiles, art, household items, toys and primitive tools.

Activities include museum tours, viewing of exhibits including Scene Around Zoar and Best of Zoar, demonstrations, horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, German food and beer for purchase, vendors and on Sunday only an antique car show.
