Two-car crash in Montgomery County declared ‘mass casualty incident’

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A crash that happened Saturday afternoon in Montgomery County was declared a “mass casualty incident,” according to officials with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).

Just before 2 p.m., in a post made on X, Pete Piringer, a spokesman for MCFRS, said crews were on Route 355 at Frederick Road and Shakespeare Boulevard in Germantown. There, a collision happened between two cars.

Six people were hurt, Piringer said.

Since at least six people were hurt, it was declared a mass casualty incident Piringer explained. None of the people’s injuries were considered to be life-threatening, though a few were seriously hurt.
