Four teens shot in separate South Side shootings, police say

Four teenagers were injured in separate South Side shootings less than an hour apart Saturday afternoon, according to Chicago police.

In the South Chicago neighborhood, a 14-year-old and 15-year-old boy were standing near the sidewalk in the 2900 block of East 82nd Street when they were struck in the back by gunfire just after 3:30 p.m., police said.

About 45 minutes later, two boys, 15 and 17, were standing near the sidewalk in the 7000 block of South Vincennes Avenue in Grand Crossing when someone inside a vehicle pulled out a handgun and opened fire, police said. The 15-year-old was shot in the abdomen, and the 17-year-old sustained a graze wound to his arm.

All four boys were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where they were initially reported in good condition, police said.

Police said no suspects were in custody in either shooting and that detectives were investigating.
