Two Wisconsin men arrested after large amount of narcotics found during traffic stop

CALEDONIA, Wis. (WFRV) – Two 26-year-old Wisconsin men were taken into custody on Friday morning after deputies found a large amount of narcotics inside a vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed an equipment violation on a vehicle traveling east on Wisconsin Highway 33 near Main Street Road in Caledonia shortly after 11:00 a.m.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and contacted the vehicle’s occupants. During the contact, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the car.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and several illegally controlled substances were located.

The driver, identified as Dashaun A. Winslow of Madison, was arrested and transported to the Columbia County Jail on the following charges:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl

  • Possession of THC – Second Offense

  • Possession of Narcotic Drugs- Schedule 2

  • Violation of Probation

The passenger, identified as Desmond L. Watkins of Sun Prairie, was also arrested and transported to the Columbia County Jail on the following charges:

  • Possession of Narcotic Drugs – Schedule 2

  • Possession of THC – Second Offense

  • Carrying a Concealed Knife

  • Violation of Probation

Officials say that over 80 counterfeit oxycodone blue M30 pills were seized that were laced with fentanyl during the traffic stop.

The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
