Work on U.S. 54, I-135 and I-235 expected in Wichita this week. What to know

Several ramps and highway lane closures happening on U.S. 54, I-135 and I-235 in Wichita this week may affect your commute. Here’s what’s happening.

Starting Tuesday, the exit ramp from eastbound U.S. 54 (east Kellogg) to northbound I-135 will close for a rehabilitation project that involves patching and concrete overlay on both sides of the ramp, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Work will be done Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the project is expected to be completed by October.

“Motorists should follow the signed detour on southbound I-135 to exit 5A and E Lincoln Street, then turn right on northbound I-135 to west Kellogg exit 5B,” KDOT said.
