U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is in Provincetown Saturday. Here's what we know.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to be on Cape Cod Saturday to raise money for the Biden Victory Fund.

The fundraiser is in Provincetown, at the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum.

Bringing Harris, "the second most powerful person in the world," to the very tip of the Cape was "no easy feat," said Bryan Rafanelli, event co-host and sponsor.

"As far as I know she's not going to Martha's Vineyard," Rafanelli, said last month. "She's not going to Nantucket. She’s coming to Provincetown. And that’s because we asked her and she agreed to be here," he said.

Why is Kamala Harris in Provincetown?

Provincetown has been the site of several high-profile political fundraisers, many hosted by Rafanelli and his Rafanelli Events. Jill Biden headlined a Biden-Harris fundraiser last July. Former President Bill Clinton, former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, pop icon Cher and current United States Secretary of Transportation Peter Buttigieg have also made fundraising appearances.

Rafanelli called Provincetown a “melting pot" last month. There’s no question that people in Provincetown care about the United States, he said. "This is the right time right place to bring the vice president here."

How much is the Biden/Harris reelection fundraiser expected to make?

The reception will "easily raise $1 million" said Rafanelli. Tickets went for as much as $150,000, and general admission sold out. The cheapest ticket was $150.

Could Kamala Harris become the Democratic nominee for president?

The betting market, which bookmakers can't legally take action on in the U.S., has moved towards Harris leading the ticket after the Democratic National Convention in August, according to USA Today.

"Things seem to be going from bad to worse for Joe Biden after testing positive for COVID-19, and as a result, there’s been a fair bit of movement in the markets in favour of fellow Democrat Kamala Harris," William Kedjanyi, Political Betting Analyst at UK bookmaker Star Sports, said in a press release.
