UCLA dorm sexual assault suspect taken into custody

The person suspected of sexually assaulting a student in a University of California, Los Angeles dorm room is in custody, according to authorities.

UCLA’s campus police department said the assault happened at about 2:40 a.m. on Friday in the Saxon Suites dorm building.

The suspect entered her room as she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her before leaving the scene, per officials.

In a news release, police described the suspect as a bearded, heavy-set white male in his 30s.

Authorities now say the suspect is in custody. No additional details, including the suspect’s identity or any charges, were not immediately made available.
