Unaccompanied Veteran Burial set at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene

Jul. 24—ABILENE — At 11 a.m. sharp on July 29, the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial for U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Private First Class (PFC) Bob Gilbert Wood. Born on Oct. 2, 1941, Wood served from June 1960 to January 1965. Wood received the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal for his service to our country.

PFC Wood is not expected to have any next-of-kin attend his burial. Please help us spread the word and ensure that this U.S. Marine Corps Veteran is not buried alone. Members of the Abilene community are encouraged to attend.

PFC Wood will receive military honors. If no next-of-kin is present at the burial, a Veterans Land Board Representative will accept the United States flag on his behalf.
