Unintended hard landing near Laramie

On Wednesday morning around 9 a.m. the Albany County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a plane crash near Windy Ridge Road southwest of Laramie about halfway toward Woods Landing off Wyoming Highway 230.

According to a post at about 1:30 p.m. on the law enforcement agency’s Facebook page, deputies determined that the pilot had inadvertently flipped the fuel switch into the “off” position. This action caused the engine to fail and the plane to crash.

While the pilot managed to land the plane, the rough terrain caused the aircraft to overturn and become upside down. The pilot sustained minor cuts and is in good condition.

In its Facebook post altering the public, the Sheriffs Office thanked their partners at Albany County, Wyoming Emergency Management, Vedauwoo Volunteer Fire Department, Albany County Fire District 1 Central, Big Laramie Fire Department and the Laramie Fire Department for “their quick response and assistance regarding this event. We are thankful that this unfortunate incident didn’t end in tragedy. Like they say, ‘All is well that end’s well!’”
