Upper Freehold crash with semitractor-trailer truck kills Trenton woman, 21

UPPER FREEHOLD - A 21-year-old woman from Trenton was killed on Wednesday when a semitractor-trailer truck collided with the Acura sedan she was driving as both motor vehicles traveled in opposite directions on Route 539, according to New Jersey State Police.

The victim, Carla Rinconrumay, suffered fatal injuries in the crash, which occurred just before 11 a.m. near mile marker 39.2 in the township, said State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, an agency spokesman.

The driver of the Mack truck, Tyler Combs, a 25, of Allentown, suffered minor injuries in the crash, Lebron said.

The crash is under investigation and the suspected cause was not made public on Wednesday night.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the Acura was going north on Route 539 while the Mack was going south on Route 539.

“In the area of milepost 39.2, the front of the Mack impacted the right side of the Acura within the southbound lane,” Lebron said. “After the impact, both vehicles ran off the road, traveled down an embankment, and hit a utility pole.”
