USS George H.W. Bush holds change of command ceremony

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush held a change of command ceremony at Norfolk Naval Shipyard on June 21.

Capt. Robert T. Bibeau, relieved Capt. Dave T. Pollard, to become Bush’s ninth commanding officer. Pollard had assumed command of George H.W. Bush in 2022. Bibeau, a native of Windsor, Connecticut, is a 1997 distinguished graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace and Systems Engineering.

“Avengers- I look forward to getting to know you better over the coming days and weeks,” Pollard said. “Together with our families, our shipyard partners, and the finest air wing in the Navy, we will emerge from this shipyard availability more lethal, adaptable, and flexible.”
