UW-Madison's $75 million gift shows good of giving. Why not donate for affordable housing?

The Sept. 12 Journal Sentinel carried the news that “UW-Madison lands $75 million gift.”

As is common, the wealthy donors will have an important new building on campus named after a family member. There are winners in all this.

But I urge families with significant resources to consider a different giving opportunity: affordable housing developments. Housing families of limited means is an act right up there with educating students. These developments often need some additional funding to get them to construction. And the name of a prominent donor on the development signage would be much more meaningful than naming it after a street address.

It's the deep state's fault. Ron Johnson has mysteries of Kennedy, Nixon and Trump solved.

We can't afford two school systems. Religious schools should not get public money.
