Driver arrested after crashing into Albuquerque law firm’s office on Halloween

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A 25-year-old man was arrested after he crashed his vehicle crashed into an Albuquerque law firm’s building Thursday night, according to court documents.

Mariano Vasquez-Martinez told Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies that he turned on Isleta Boulevard SW from Bridge, gave the truck too much throttle so he could beat traffic, and spun out and crashed into Elias Law’s building, located at 111 Isleta Blvd SW.

Vasquez-Martinez also admitted to drinking two and a half beers earlier that day. Deputies reported that he had bloodshot and watery eyes and slurred speech, according to court documents. Officials noted that he participated in field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test, which came back with a blood alcohol level nearly twice above the legal limit.

Deputies arrested Vasquez-Martinez and charged him with DWI and failure to maintain traffic lane.

The owner of Elias Law told KRQE News 13 that the crash left a huge hole in the side of the building. Deputies were called out to the crash at 6:15 p.m., per court documents.
