Driver in Rt. 613 vehicle fire hospitalized with serious injuries, VSP reports

UPDATE 3:46 P.M. FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police report the driver involved in the vehicle fire on Route 613 in Franklin County was hospitalized.

According to VSP, troopers responded at 1:22 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash at the 3800 of Naff Rd in Boones Mill. Troopers found a Chevrolet Trailblazer that ran off the road and continued down a steep embankment. The impact of the crash caused the Trailblazer to catch on fire.

Tornado confirmed in Halifax County, National Weather Service says

VSP says the driver has suffered serious injuries and has been taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

VDOT says the scene has since been cleared and all east and westbound lanes of Route 613 are now reopened.

This crash remains under investigation. WFXR News will update this story as further information is released.
