VIDEO: Man accused of ramming truck into Albuquerque bank

Police said Steven Gurule was caught on camera breaking into an SUV outside of a Ford dealership on Moñtano in northeast Albuquerque in late January. When the SUV’s owner came running out, the criminal complaint stated Gurule attacked him with the tire iron he had just used to smash the SUV’s window.

Gurule then took off to the First Financial Bank just half a mile up the road. That’s where he ran over a motorcycle before ramming his truck through the bank. He then stuck his head out of the truck and started yelling. Employees moved back as Gurule revved his engine. He rammed his truck into the bank a third time and ran into the bank on foot.

A scream came from a woman police said was knocked to the ground by Gurule. He stole her purse before running out the door just as Albuquerque police arrived. An employee told an officer where Gurule ran and officers caught up to him. He did fight with officers before being taken into custody.

Gurule pled not guilty to seven charges including aggravated battery, robbery, and reckless driving. He’s being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center until his trial.
