Videos show man’s bizarre behavior before Las Vegas face-eating murder arrest

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Videos the 8 News Now Investigators obtained Thursday show a man’s actions before his arrest on allegations he murdered another man and ate the victim’s face.

Colin Czech, 29, faces three charges in the murder of Kenneth Brown, as well as an attempted murder charge for trying to kill a man at a 7-Eleven “in the same manner as he did” Brown, documents said.

Police arrested Czech on April 28. In May, a judge found him competent to stand trial.

According to documents, an employee at the 7-Eleven at the intersection of Charleston and Las Vegas boulevards saw Czech outside the store after 3 a.m. Czech appears to do pushups in the middle of the parking lot before mocking the employee. The video shows Czech then tackling the man for some time.

Czech eventually left and went to a different convenience store on Charleston Boulevard, according to court records. Police said Czech then went across the street to a bus stop where he used a weapon to kill Brown and then started to eat his face. Witnesses at the grand jury corroborate that account.

Another video shows Czech walking down the street, eventually lunging toward the sidewalk, prosecutors said. That is the point, according to prosecutors, when Czech attacked and killed Brown and then ate his face.

Photos the 8 News Now Investigators obtained Thursday include a bloodied hospital bracelet with Brown’s name include graphic photos of his injuries.

Body camera video the 8 News Now Investigators obtained shows a Metro police officer responding to the sidewalk where Czech is lying next to Brown’s body.

“What’s going on?” the officer asks Czech. Another responding officer replies, “Get away – get on the ground.”

Czech was arrested with blood in his teeth and hair and the victim’s ear was found on the sidewalk nearby, documents said and photos showed.

While in police custody, Czech “was going in and out of consciousness,” documents said. He later told officers he was unhoused and was awake for “five days straight” because something was “possessing him,” according to the documents.

Czech also told detectives he used his teeth to hurt the victim, adding “he used his teeth to eat [the man’s] eyeballs and ears,” documents said.

Czech was due to return to court on Aug. 8. He has remained in custody since his arrest as judges have denied setting bail.

The Clark County coroner’s office has not released Brown’s official cause and manner of death, though documents indicate prosecutors suspect Czech pushed him to the ground and then disfigured him.
