Voter Guide 2024: What you need to know about Election Day voting in Georgia
Election Day is quickly arriving on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and it's time for Georgia residents to make their voices heard. Here is everything you need to know about Election Day.
Can you register to vote on Election Day?
No. The deadline to register to vote was Oct. 7.
Where to vote and how to find polling location
Voters are assigned specific polling locations based on where they are registered to vote. To find your polling location, go to mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/.
What to bring to the polls
Voters must show a photo ID to vote in Georgia. Acceptable forms of ID include:
Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a free ID card issued by the county registrar's office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS).
Georgia driver's license, even if expired.
Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the US Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of the state.
Valid US passport ID.
Valid US military photo ID containing a photograph of the voter.
Student photo ID card issued by a Georgia public college, university, or technical school.
Valid tribal photo ID containing your photograph.
When do polls open and close?
On Election Day, the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. But, the polls will stay open for anyone in line by 7 p.m.
What happens if there are issues casting my ballot?
In the event you fail to bring an acceptable photo ID, your registration information cannot be found, or some other applicable issue, voters can fill out a provisional ballot. The provisional ballot will count if your eligibility can be determined within three days after Election Day by your County Registrar’s office.
What if my polling location was impacted by Hurricane Helene?
