VSP investigate fatal pedestrian crash in Surry Co.

SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash on Route 10 Tuesday morning.

According to officials, the crash occurred around 4:11 a.m. near Magnolia Circle on Route 10.

State police said a 2015 Volkswagen was headed eastbound on Colonial Trail and was unable to avoid a pedestrian in the lane. The pedestrian died at the scene.

All eastbound and westbound lanes were temporarily closed as a result of the crash. All lanes have since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
