Wake-Up Weather: temperatures bursting with heat for Independence Day

Summary: Happy Thursday and Independence day! Waking up this morning to a continuation of the heat advisory through today as previously thought. Heat index values as warm as 107 with the record for today being 106 setback in 1980 tomorrow temperature still into the triple digits with the record of 103 setback in 1971. Heading into Friday a cold front is expected to move through and stall out bringing those temperatures from triple digits to the mix of the low to mid 90s with more cloud cover increasing heading into this weekend. SPC places portions of the big country under a marginal risk with a chance of gusty winds , lightning and large hail. Temperatures could fall as low as the upper 80s things to the front stalling out, but then by Sunday temperatures rebound quickly into the mix of of the upper 90s things to a warm front then, by next week we will be watching whatever comes out of the Gulf of Mexico as a result of barrel that could impact parts of northern Mexico as well as south eastern parts of the state of Texas, bringing some showers, potentially into the big country limiting temperatures by next week.

Tonight: Upper level clouds move in with a chance for storms to bubble up and become severe to the northwest. Low Temperature: 77° Winds: MPH
