Walters says he will revoke Ardmore teacher's certificate for social media post about Trump

Jul. 18—An Ardmore City Schools teacher drew the attention of Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters after a social media post referencing the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Libs of TikTok, a far-right X account, has been contacting employers of people posting similar comments in order to have them fired.

Walters claimed he investigated the comment and will be revoking Allison Scott's teaching certificate.

"We will not allow teachers to cheer on violence against @realDonaldTrump," Walters wrote on X. "It will not be tolerated. Ever! #maga."

Ardmore City Schools said in a press release Tuesday that they were "aware that a district employee made a statement on a social media platform appearing to condone violence against a political figure."

"The district has begun a thorough and swift investigation into the matter," the press release said. "At this time, the district cannot comment on what actions, if any, it will take as this is an ongoing personnel matter.

"Ardmore City Schools strongly condemns acts of physical violence and any words that seek to encourage it, no matter their target. It is the goal of the Board of Education, together with the district's faculty and staff, to educate students in a safe environment free from violent acts and rhetoric."
