Watching Jennifer Lopez Call Ben Affleck’s Rainbow Phoenix Tattoo ‘Awful’ Is So Iconic
I think we all can agree that Ben Affleck is a classically good-looking dude with a classically bad-looking back tattoo. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a massive phoenix in shades of blue, red, and orange that covers his entire backside.
And his current girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, is not a fan. We know this from an interview that recently resurfaced from 2016. Now that the original Bennifer is back together, fans have been combing through old videos—and while the couple is famously complimentary of each other, Lopez didn’t mince words about Affleck’s ink.
“It’s awful!” she told Andy Cohen in an interview on Watch What Happens Live. “I would tell him that! Like, what are you doing? It has too many colors. His tattoos always had too many colors. They shouldn’t be so colorful, you know what I mean? They should be cooler."
Who knows? Maybe Jennifer Lopez will convince Ben Affleck to get the tattoo removed. We know from another WWHL interview, this time from 2014, that Lopez helped style Affleck when they dated in the early aughts. “I did kind of say, ‘You need to be—you’re a movie star. You should wear a suit, or you should do this with your hair. I did that—and by the way, guys do that to girls too. Like, ‘I like that dress better than the other dress’…. [Ben] was into it. He didn’t do anything he didn’t want to do.”
Regardless, Affleck’s poor choice in tats doesn’t seem to be slowing the couple down. They were recently spotted canoodling on a yacht, bringing to mind the iconic scene from the “Jenny From the Block” video. Lopez has also taken to wearing a necklace with the letters B E N on it. Maybe J.Lo doesn’t care about the tattoo anymore (or, ya know, she just ignores it).
