Watsontown River Bridge to close beginning Wednesday for restoration work

Jul. 23—WATSONTOWN — Beginning Wednesday, through the end of this month, the Watsontown River Bridge will be closed while a $4.3 million bridge preservation project continues. The bridge carries Brimmer Avenue over the West Branch Susquehanna River in White Deer Township and Watsontown. A detour using Main Street, Route 44/405, Route 44, and Route 15 will be in effect during this period.

RAM Services of Michigan is the prime contractor for the project. Work includes patching the deck, waterproofing the barriers, preserving the deck with an epoxy overlay, and paving the bridge approaches. Additional work on this project includes preservation of the bridges that carry roads over the West Branch Susquehanna River, Interstate 80 eastbound and westbound in Northumberland County and the Lewisburg River Bridge, and Milton River Bridge in Northumberland and Union counties.
