Weather Forecast: Snow for some, cold for all

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Heavy lake effect snow continues to fall across parts of WNY, stemming from a primary Lake Erie snow band. While we have noted a northward nudge with this band this evening (close to Buffalo), a shift in the wind will drive the band back southward tonight. That will further support a lack of additional snowfall for the Rochester area as we instead focus on the cold.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR WYOMING AND GENESEE COUNTIES. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR LIVINGSTON AND ONTARIO COUNTIES.

Temperatures will spill into the teens tonight with wind chills in the single digits. Partial sunshine Friday will offer some nice visuals, but we’re not making it out of the 20s. Clearing skies and lighter winds tomorrow night could support temperatures dropping even lower with single digit air temperatures possible where skies fully clear out.
