‘Whatever could have gone wrong went wrong’: increased security likely at Trump rally in Harrisburg after assassination attempt
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Former President Donald Trump will hold his first rally in Pennsylvania since the attempt on his life earlier this month in Butler County.
John Sancenito, President of ‘Information Associations Network,’ is a security expert who has worked with former presidents and the United States Secret Service to secure high-profile political events. Sancenito believes security will drastically increase when the former president visits Harrisburg on Wednesday, July 31.
“There’s a tremendous amount of planning that goes into every event,” Sancenito said. “What happened in Butler was the exception, not the rule.”

Sancenito said the rally being held inside the Farm Show Complex makes things safer for not only the former president, but also attendees.
“In an indoor environment, you can control the facility, you can sweep the facility and you can control and screen the people as they come in,” Sancenito said, adding that individuals will likely have to pass through metal detectors.
This comes as the Secret Service faces intense scrutiny after the shooting in Butler. Now-former Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned Tuesday.
abc27 News reached out to the Secret Service, which sent the following statement:
“The safety and security of our protectees is the U.S. Secret Service’s top priority. Out of concern for operational security, the Secret Service does not discuss the means and methods used for our protective operations.”
