Why is the I-490 east on-ramp closed on South Avenue? What to know

One of the two on-ramps to Interstate 490 east from South Avenue in Downtown and the ramp that carries South Avenue beneath the highway will be closed from Friday, July 12, to approximately Wednesday, July 17, for water-main maintenance operations.

South Avenue will be closed from Woodbury Boulevard to Griffith Street. However, the South Avenue Extension will remain open. Detours will be posted. The duration of the operation is an estimate and may be affected by weather conditions.

Motorists approaching the intersection from South Avenue or Woodbury Boulevard will be directed to the eastern "flyover" ramp onto I-490, as the center ramp to South Avenue and the western ramp near the ROC City Skatepark will be closed.
