Why is there a building being torn down next to Blue Cross Blue Shield on Lakeland Drive?

If you are wondering why there is a building being torn down along Lakeland Drive, there is a good reason.

The property at the intersecting of North Flowood Drive and Lakeland Drive in Flowood is a former two-story law office which is now the property of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi.

Blue Cross originally looked at using the building as office space or something similar, but they quickly discovered it was going to cost less money to tear down the building than to fix it up, according to Cayla Mangrum the manager of corporate communications at BCBS of Mississippi.

The future plan for the building is to replace the building with green space that will be much more pleasing to the eye.

Mangum did not give a specific timeline for the completion of the project, but she does not expect it to take long.
