PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Gov. Glenn Youngkin has ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff on Monday in memory of the former Pennsylvania Volunteer Firefighter who lost his life during the Pennsylvania Trump rally.

Corey Comperatore, 50, was identified as the person who was killed during the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler County, Pennsylvania. During a Sunday news conference, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro stated Comperatore died while shielding his family from the bullets before being struck.

Two people remain in critical condition as a result of the incident.

Youngkin’s statement can be read in part below:

Virginia stands in solidarity with and extends prayers to all Pennsylvanians, especially those who remain in critical condition and their families. I hereby order that the flags shall be lowered at Noon on Monday, July 15, 2024 and remain at half-staff until sunset July 16, 2024.
