Why this Saraland woman just got a big check and national recognition from her employer

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Labor Finders awarded a Saraland woman with its 2024 Employee of the Year award.

Labor Finders is a privately held industrial staffing company in the United States, and Jane Hockaday of Saraland was recognized Wednesday night as the company’s employee of the year.

According to a Labor Finders news release, Hockaday has worked in several roles over her decade-long career with the company. Her duties have included housekeeping, construction cleanup, landscaping, hospitality, server, mover, driver and road flagger.

Most recently, she became a state-certified road flagger through the company, the release said.

“I love working at Labor Finders because it offers me the flexibility to pick the jobs I want and also spend time with my growing family,” Hockaday said. “I just try to take love and humility with me wherever I go, and my Labor Finders branch team genuinely cares about the employees they place. Being recognized as their 2024 Employee of the Year makes me feel both grateful and humbled.”

The company awarded Hockaday with a $3,000 check and a commemorative plaque on Wednesday night.

Hockaday will represent the company as Labor Finders’ nominee for the American Staffing Association Employee of the Year award, which is “a prestigious recognition given to an outstanding temporary or contract employee in the staffing industry.”

According to the company release, the Saraland office is also being recognized with the second annual “Newt Burnett Changing Lives Award,” which is named after the company’s founder.
