Wiregrass-native, U.S. Senator visits Dothan to inform, hear from local leaders

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Senator Britt spent the day visiting with Houston County leaders like Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba informing them about the work happening up in Washington DC as well as learning about the challenges on the local level.

During her time here, Britt learned more about the incoming opportunities for growth in Dothan like the Wiregrass Innovation Center that broke ground last month which she says will create opportunities and jobs for people to achieve what she calls the ‘American dream’.

She also talked about her fight for national defense and military construction such as how she recently helped secure over one billion dollars for Fort Novosel — one of her priorities in Washington.

“We are gonna continue to look at Fort Novosel to see what the needs there when we look at future base alignments and closures we want to look back and make sure we have invested your tax dollars and it’s a thriving base for generations to come,” Sen. Britt said.

Senator Britt also mentioned being a better partner with HudsonAlpha as this area is just as big on agriculture as the military as well as funding for healthcare to make sure the nurses and doctors are fully trained and the facilities are top-notch.

Although Sen. Britt was in Dothan Tuesday, she will visit her home county, Coffee County, on Wednesday. She said she looks forward to working with all Wiregrass partners to be a voice in D.C.
