Wisconsin man arrested after ‘taking frustrations out’ on historical sculpture

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officers in Wisconsin were called to a local zoo for the second time this week after receiving reports of a man yelling in Spanish and damaging property.

According to a release, officers with the Madison Police Department responded to the Henry Vilas Zoo Thursday evening and found a 39-year-old man who was allegedly heavily intoxicated.

The 39-year-old, identified as Jose Garcia, was reportedly frustrated and took out his frustrations on the historic Annie Stewart Fountain, which is the oldest commissioned art piece in Madison.

The Madison Police Department said that the Annie Stewart Fountain is currently the focus of a restoration project by a local community group.

Garcia was apprehended and transported to the Dane County jail for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
