After Wisconsin stop, Elizabeth Warren joins Baldwin in endorsing Harris
President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 election on Sunday amid pressure from Democratic leaders. Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and a host of national Democrats added their support for Harris.
Among those were U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who was in Stoughton on Sunday campaigning for Sen. Tammy Baldwin. Baldwin said she would back Harris and praised her work as California's attorney general and as a U.S. senator. Warren spoke at the campaign event but didn't take questions from reporters. At the campaign event, Warren said, “If Joe Biden can step aside then the rest of us can step up and get Democrats elected.”
Later Sunday, Warren endorsed Kamala Harris in a statement on X , joining a chorus of Democratic leaders.
"I endorse Kamala Harris for President," Harris wrote. "She is a proven fighter who has been a national leader in safeguarding consumers and protecting access to abortion."
Warren also thanked President Biden for his service, noting that his "presidency has been transformational. He accomplished more in the past four years — to bring back jobs, stand up to big corporations, and build an economy that works for all of us — than we have been able to get done in the last forty."
