Witkowski sentenced to prison

Jul. 12—Former Traverse City coffee shop owner Edward Witkowski was ordered by a judge to serve at least four years in prison for "deviant, illegal, inappropriate and highly unusual" criminal behavior that involved secretly videotaping women in the shop's restroom.

Witkowski was caught with three videos of unclothed women on his cell phone. He later pleaded no contest to using a computer to commit a crime, capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person, and lying to a detective when he was questioned about the surveillance camera.

Grand Traverse County 13th Circuit Court Judge Charles Hamlyn handed down concurrent sentences in this case Friday.
