Woman arrested following Gretna chase, crash: GPD

GRETNA, La. (WGNO) — A woman was arrested after a shoplifting report led to a chase and crash in Gretna on Sunday, July 7.

Gretna Police Department officials said that officers responded to a report of shoplifting at 64 West Bank Expressway when 41-year-old Lakisha Dooley got into her car and allegedly sped away and hit few cars.

GPD officials said the Dooley then reportedly led police on a chase.

According to police, the Louisiana State Police began assisting with the pursuit, which ended on the Crescent City Connection, where Dooley allegedly hit an LSP unit and a GPD unit before crashing into an embankment.

Crash in Pearl River County leaves one dead

Dooley’s car reportedly caught fire after the crash. No injuries were reported.

According to the GPD, Dooley was arrested and faces several charges including theft, battery of a police officer, aggravated flight from an officer and obstruction of justice.
