Woman carjacked at gunpoint while loading groceries at Aldi: MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was carjacked by two men while putting groceries in her car at Aldi on Perkins, according to Memphis Police.

Gary Baker, 25, is charged with Carjacking, Possession without Prescription Unlawful to wit: Oxycodone, Employment of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun.

His bond has been set at $250,000.

Ramone Harris, 33, is charged with Carjacking, Theft of Property to wit: Firearm less than $2,500, Possession without Prescription Unlawful to wit Oxycodone.

His bond had been set at $300,000.

On July 21 at around 3 p.m., officers responded to a carjacking at Aldi in the 2700 block of Perkins Road.

The victim told police that two men, later identified as Baker and Harris, approached her while she was putting groceries in her car.

Harris was reportedly armed with a gun and pointed it at her chest as he took her car keys.

The men fled the scene in the victim’s 2012 Nissan Altima, valued at $4,268.

According to reports, at around 5:20 p.m., officers tracked the car to Water Lilly Trail. They saw the men and took them into custody.

MPD says Harris had a stolen 9mm gun in his waistband and 13 pink pills that were identified as Oxycodone. Baker reportedly had the keys to the Altima around his neck, the vehicle registration in his pocket, and six pink pills, later identified as Oxycodone.

Records show that Baker was convicted of Aggravated Robbery in 2019. Harris allegedly admitted to pointing a gun at the victim and taking her car.
