Woman fatally shot in Manchester: prosecutor says public not in danger

MANCHESTER - A 25-year-old woman who was killed Thursday in the area of Ridgeway and Hope Chapel roads was shot in the stomach, according to a joint statement from Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Manchester Police Chief Antonio Ellis.

The victim, who was not identified Friday, was later airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where she died of her injuries, the statement said.

Manchester police officers were summoned to the scene about 4:55 p.m. Thursday in response to a 911 call reporting a gunshot victim outside the Ridgeway Plaza Wines & Liquor store at the corner of the intersection.
