Woman pushed to her death in Manhattan’s Riverside Park, son in custody

A Manhattan woman was pushed to her death from an embankment in Riverside Park Sunday, with her son taken into custody after the attack, police and sources said.

Vianel Garcia, 44, argued with her 22-year-old son near Riverside Drive and W. 165th St. in Washington Heights just before 4:15 p.m., the officials said.

According to cops, witnesses told police the man allegedly shoved the woman down the grassy embankment.

Medics arrived and found Garcia at the bottom of the hill, suffering from serious injuries. She was rushed to Harlem Hospital, but could not be saved.

Police took Garcia’s son into custody at the scene; charges were pending Sunday evening. His name was not immediately released.

Garcia lived in East Harlem, according to police.
