Women accused of exploiting elderly patients at Guthrie nursing home appear in court

GUTHRIE, Okla. (KFOR) — Two of the three women accused of exploiting seniors in a Guthrie nursing home were in court on Thursday.

McKenzie Bolfa, Jade Williams and Aubrey Granata are all facing elderly abuse charges.

Both Bolfa and Williams were seen in court.

The group, Caregivers for Justice call themselves advocates for quality healthcare and they stood outside the Logan County Courthouse to protest for the victims too sick or elderly to speak for themselves.

“It’s horrendous. It makes me disgusted,” said Nyx, Caregivers for Justice Organizer. “We don’t stand for this as caregivers. We don’t stand for this in any shape or form.”

All three women are accused of sending disturbing videos to each other via Snapchat.

According to court documents, police found several videos and images, including residents on the toilet, residents covered in fecal matter and a picture where the suspects allegedly used a mocking filter over a resident who recently died.

“You’re a health care worker who serves the state, you’re serving your people, you are selfless, you are a servant and for you to take your position of power over somebody else and abuse, that is disgusting,” said Nyx.

A judge denied William’s request for lower bond and Bolfa’s case was pushed back to August.

“It was sad to see that as she goes walking out of the court room that she doesn’t have anything to say,” said Cameron Brooks, a member of Caregivers for Justice.

The group says they’ll stay on the case until justice is served.

“Hopefully further on, we can just keep coming and keep showing up for the families,” said Nyx.

The third suspect, Aubrey Granata is due in court on August 8th.

The group Caregivers for Justice said they plan on being there.
