World's 50 Best Restaurants adds 'Slow Food Restaurant of the Year' award

The 10th edition of the World's 50 Best Restaurant awards will be livestreamed April 30 from London.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards group has added a new category that will recognize the most outstanding sustainable restaurant.

The recipient of the Slow Food Restaurant of the Year award will be announced April 30 and will be judged by food critic Matthew Fort and Restaurant magazine.

The establishment will reflect notions like locality, heritage, sustainability and the revival of forgotten foods, says magazine editor William Drew.

Winners of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants will be announced in London, just ahead of the James Beard Foundation Awards which recognizes chefs and restaurants in the US.
